Margaret is a retired educator. She worked in public education for 35 years in NC, DODEA Germany, MN, and TX. She served as am elementary teacher, high school special education teacher, facilitator, and assistance principal at both middle and elementary school.
She also served as a consultant for Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children in Youngsport, TX where she developed an outdoor education program for students with disabilities, this is where Margaret found her love of using horses to improve the lives of people with special needs. She and her husband, Charles own a little farm outside of Killeen. They have 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 grandcats.
After 7 years in Houston ISD and 20 more in Killeen ISD, Debra Bearden retired from teaching in 2012. In her 27 years in education, she taught 1st through 4th grades, worked with hearing impaired students, and ran a program which paired adults with students needing one on one assistance with Reading. Since her retirement, Debra has been working with her husband, Perk at their family owned business in Harker Heights.
Debra is the mother of 2 sons and one step daughter (a police officer, and 2 teachers respectfully); and the grandmother of 2. She and her husband enjoy the daily antics of their 3 dogs, Bella, Max, and Valli.
